Qatar. It’s not Trump who gets the Flying Palace, but the Pentagon

The personal fleet of US President Donald Trump will not be replenished with a gift from Qatar – a luxury Boeing 747-8 airliner. Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed Al Thani assured the Americans of this. The “flying Palace,” as this aircraft was called in the press, may be transferred to the United States authorities for temporary use as a presidential official transport. Al Thani said that the Ministries of Defense of Qatar and the United States are conducting relevant negotiations. “The offer will be withdrawn if it is considered illegal,” the Qatari prime minister said in an interview with CNN. Earlier, the American media spread information that Qatar, on the eve of Trump’s visit to this country, was going to give him a Boeing 747-8 personally. This gift is worth about $400 million. They immediately criticized the president in Congress, both Democrats and Republican party members. Trump, for his part, claimed that the plane was a gift from Qatar, not to him, but to the Pentagon, and “only a fool” could not accept it. Back in February, he expressed dissatisfaction with cooperation with Boeing. Trump recalled that during his first term as president (2016-2021), the White House ordered her two presidential air bases. However, the planes are not ready yet. “We can buy a plane or get a plane somewhere else,” Trump threatened.
